This collaboration signals a pivotal moment in Primus’s evolution. It marks a new chapter in the band’s lineup and creative direction.

Modern Drummer reported that John Hoffman joined the band in February 2025. The selection process involved evaluating more than 6,200 drummer auditions.

Blabbermouth revealed the band’s upcoming ‘Onward & Upward’ summer tour. This tour will be Hoffman’s first full cycle with the group.

The track marks the first studio collaboration between Primus and Keenan in recent years. MetalSucks noted that both acts previously shared stages during the 2025 “Sessanta” tour alongside A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

The new single represents Hoffman’s recording debut with Primus. He steps into the role previously held by longtime drummer Tim ‘Herb’ Alexander.
