Genesis’ Phil Collins was recently spotted at Buckingham Palace alongside his ex-wife Jill Collins and Rod Stewart. His use of crutches sparked concern among fans as he’s known to be struggling with various health issues and living in 24-hour nursing care. The appearance was documented in photos shared on Instagram.

Jill Collins shared details about their attendance at The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Party. She expressed pride in Phil’s long-standing connection to the organization.

“Yesterday was a truly memorable afternoon spent at Buckingham Palace to celebrate The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Party,” she wrote. “Despite the downpours of torrential rain which did not seem to dampen the festivities, Phil and I were very proud and honored to be there and have a few private moments with King Charles who seemed genuinely pleased to see Phil who was the very first ambassador 40 years ago and a trustee even before that.”

She also mentioned encountering other notable figures at the event.

“We ran into Sir Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster among other old (in the nicest sense of the word) friends,” she continued. “It was not really the done thing to take photos once King Charles arrived in the Royal Tea Tent so unfortunately nothing to share.”

The rare public appearance highlighted Collins’ enduring connection to the charity despite his ongoing health challenges.

Collins’ use of mobility aids at the event reflects his ongoing battle with serious medical conditions that have significantly impacted his quality of life in recent years. The Los Angeles Times reported that the legendary musician now requires 24-hour nursing care after enduring cascading health crises, including five knee surgeries, kidney failure and a severe spinal injury.

The extent of Collins’ health struggles has fundamentally changed his daily routine and professional capabilities. The Los Angeles Times noted that he now has a 24-hour live-in nurse to help ensure he takes his medications on time. This highlights the severity of his condition and the level of care required.

These physical limitations have also affected his career prospects. Collins indicated he’s not planning any major tours due to his mobility issues. However, The Los Angeles Times revealed that he remains open to working in the recording studio on unfinished projects. This suggests his passion for music continues despite his physical challenges.

On a positive note, Collins has made significant progress in other areas of his health journey. The Los Angeles Times confirmed that he recently marked two years without alcohol. This demonstrates his commitment to maintaining his health where possible.

The Buckingham Palace appearance represents one of Collins’ few public outings in recent years. It underscores both his dedication to causes close to his heart and the challenges he faces in maintaining an active public presence.
