Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz revealed the name of the pop singer that inspired the band’s latest tour.

During his appearance in a new interview with NME, they celebrated headlining the Download Festival 2024 for the first time and discussed the musicians that inspired them. He shared the pop singer’s name:

“With Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ and Metallica playing a different set every night of their stadium shows, it felt like that was destined to happen.”

Fall Out Boy Doesn’t Focus on The Greatest Hits During Tours

The band has been focusing on different music styles with each album. Similarly, during their latest shows, they have been playing rare unreleased tracks and some covers. Wentz said of the mixed list:

“We’ve always mixed things. We like R&B, but we came up in the hardcore scene. Now, though, we live in this time where people are much more comfortable with that. It’s like our band has been waiting for this genre-less thing to really happen.”

Who Else Inspired Fall Out Boy?

Predictably, the band’s main inspirations have been rock, punk and even metal bands. Bands such as Green Day, the Ramones, Screeching Weasel, Metallica, Earth Crisis, Gorilla Biscuits, and Lifetime helped the band shape their sound throughout the years. When it comes to Wentz’s personal inspirations, he goes for a bit more goth and punk side of the music. Bands like The Cure and Refused are among the two that inspire the bassist.

In addition to his musical inspirations, Wentz was also inspired by the producer and songwriter Illangelo, who is a frequent The Weeknd collaborator.
