Perry Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, has launched a scathing attack on Jane’s Addiction members. She shared a detailed statement on Instagram, implicitly targeting Perry Farrell’s former bandmates.
She criticized what she calls their “lazy” financial demands. In a recent Instagram post, she stated, “You’ve got to work for that money like everyone else. It’s a tough world out there.. Just because you can’t get a job, too lazy to get a job, have some bullshit excuse why you can’t work, that’s on you.”
“You’ve made mistakes that led to a loss of income, and you now can’t pay your bills, you should’ve thought further ahead,” she continued. “Do better. Try harder. Don’t waste anyone’s time by lying and filing frivolous lawsuits against those who have worked hard, and have continued to work hard for their money. Her money is for her family and for those whom she loves and cares for.”
The heated response comes after Jane’s Addiction members filed a lawsuit against Perry Farrell over a 2024 on-stage altercation. They held Perry responsible for the incident and its aftermath.
Etty Lau Farrell’s public criticism stems from a dramatic series of events that began with a shocking on-stage incident last year. Guitar World reported that the altercation occurred on September 13, 2024, during a Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston. Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro onstage during the performance of “Ocean Size.” The incident caused the immediate halt of the gig and led to the cancellation of the rest of the tour.
The financial and legal ramifications of that night have been severe. Guitar World revealed that Dave Navarro, Eric Avery (bassist), and Stephen Perkins (drummer) filed a lawsuit against Perry Farrell in Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 16, 2025. They seek at least $10 million in damages, claiming financial losses due to the tour and album cancellations stemming from Farrell’s actions.
The lawsuit includes serious charges against Farrell, including assault and battery due to the punch, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. Guitar World noted that the complaint also alleges Farrell was frequently intoxicated and unable to perform adequately during the tour.
However, Farrell has not remained silent in the face of these accusations. Guitar World documented that Farrell responded with his own legal complaint, accusing his former bandmates of a sustained campaign of harassment and bullying toward him. He claims the on-stage violence was triggered by frustrations over Navarro playing too loudly, forcing Farrell to blast his in-ear monitors unsafely.
The dispute has revealed deep personal animosity within the band. Farrell further alleged that Navarro assaulted him and his wife backstage. This ongoing legal battle and the public statements from Etty Lau Farrell highlight the complete breakdown of relationships among the Jane’s Addiction members, transforming what was once a legendary alternative rock band into a bitter legal and financial dispute.
