Perry Farrell On Making His Dream Come True By Working With Porno For Pyros Again

In a recent interview with NME, the frontman of Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell revealed that he was excited to be able to make new music with Porno For Pyros once again.
The band, Pornos For Pyros, was formed following the breakup of Jane’s Addiction as guitarist Dave Navarro and bassist Eric Avery decided to leave the band to battle their substance abuse issues. However, the other half of the band, including vocalist Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins, still wanted to continue making music. And thus, Pornos For Pyros was born in 1992.
However, the dynamic within the band was rocky, and bassist Martyn LeNoble quit after recording most of the bass tracks for their record, ‘Good God’s Urge,’ released in 1996. PFP reunited in 2009 when they played together at vocalist Perry Farrell’s 50th birthday party. The band has been on and off since releasing new singles but had not taken an active stance.
They reunited at the ‘Welcome to Rockville’ festival on May 18, 2022, as Jane’s Addiction couldn’t perform due to guitarist Dave Navarro’s COVID-19-related health problems. It was announced soon after that bassist Martyn LeNoble would rejoin the band for the upcoming summer shows and performance in Lollapalooza. Porno For Pyros have confirmed that they have been working on new material ever since.
In a recent statement made to NME, vocalist Perry Farrell disclosed what was next for the band and how excited he was to work on new music. He noted that the band has recovered from previous conflicts as LeNoble has rejoined. Farrell opened up about how they didn’t resolve their problems only for the sake of the reunion but to create new and quality material together. He confirmed that musicians get better with age, and stressed that they still sounded great together after all these years.
In his recent interview, Farrell revealed:
“The idea of getting back with Porno was something we dreamed of for a long time. Especially to be working with Martyn LeNoble, our bassist, again. We all took that opportunity to not just kiss and make up but to do some great work, and we sounded really good. It’s true what they say about musicians. They get better with age.”
Perry then mentioned that they were currently working on three unreleased songs that were still in the making, and he was pretty excited for the world to hear them. He didn’t specify a date for their release but stated that with the tour dates being set, their release would follow.
He explained:
“We’ve got three songs that the world hasn’t heard yet, and they’re really good. I’ve got a good smile on my face thinking about those songs. We just recorded them, and we’ll be finishing them in the next month or so. There’ll be music in the air, and then we’ll appear. We have to figure out when we want to tour. You want to [release] those songs close to the tour.”
Perry Farrell took the stage with Billy Corgan in Lollapalooza to cover Led Zeppelin’s ‘When The Levee Breaks’ on July 31, 2022. Since then, the Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction have been touring together across the United States.
