The statement expressed deep gratitude toward Metallica for bringing Pantera along on the tour over the past three years. Pantera acknowledged Metallica’s role in helping them reconnect with fans old and new.

“We owe a great deal of gratitude to Metallica. Thank you for taking us out, these last 3 years!” Pantera said. “Metallica has been crucial in helping us reach all of our fans, both old & new, in our pursuit of this legacy, that started 45 years ago…”

The message went on to personally address each member of Metallica by name.

“To James, Lars, Kirk & Rob: Thank you for one hell of a ride!!” they continued.

Metallica responded to the tribute on their own Instagram account, keeping their reply brief but warm: “Couldn’t have done it without you guys. Thank YOU!”

The exchange marks the close of a landmark three-year touring chapter for both bands, with no further announcements made at this time.

Pantera’s reunion tour officially launched in 2023, marking the band’s first tour in 22 years. Original members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown led the charge, with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante stepping in as touring musicians to fill the roles of the late Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, respectively.

Pantera joined Metallica as an official opening act for the M72 World Tour, one of the most ambitious touring productions in recent rock history. The European leg included major stadium stops in Frankfurt and Hungary.

The pairing proved to be a natural fit, placing two of the genre’s most celebrated acts on the same bill night after night. For Pantera, the exposure on such a massive platform helped reintroduce the band to audiences across multiple continents, reinforcing the enduring appeal of their catalog. For Metallica, bringing Pantera along reflected a broader commitment to championing the heavy metal community. Together, the two bands delivered some of the largest and most talked-about shows either act had seen in years.
