Ozzy Osbourne Regretfully Announces His Retirement From Touring

All good things come to an end sooner or later… After many delays and several daydreaming sessions about what Ozzy Osbourne’s return to the stages would look like, the Prince of Darkness has just made a heartbreaking announcement. We hate to be the bearer of sad news, but the singer just announced that his touring days are over on Twitter with a heartfelt message to fans who have been on his musical journey since day one.

“This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans,” shared Osbourne. “As you may all know, I had a major accident four years ago this month, where I damaged my spine. My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently, groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.”

Ozzy had gone through several medical health scares over the years, one after another. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, had neck surgery, and suffered mobility issues. Even then, he came back with tracks and music videos, but apparently, he couldn’t heal enough to hit the road.

He continued, “I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now realized that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required. Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans f*cks me up more than you will ever know.”

“Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way,” confessed Ozzy while opening up about the devastating conclusion to his live performances. “My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I can perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”

He finished his message to his fans with, “I want to thank my family, my band, my crew, my longtime friends, Judas Priest, and of course, my fans for their endless dedication, loyalty, and support and for giving me the life that I never dreamed I would have. I love you all.”

Just hours before Osbourne’s announcement, Sharon had posted on Instagram with the caption, “Pretty obvious who I’m watching. Still awestruck, Ozzy Osbourne.” Many had thought that Ozzy was getting ready for the tour and was in rehearsals, but it seems like the assumptions were not the case as they were probably preparing for the sad announcement.

It’s a bitter end of an era. Ozzy has brought so much to the metal scene since the day he started his career. Although today marks the end of touring days, a residency might still be in the cards, so there is still hope for the Prince of Darkness to return to the stage, even if it’s on a smaller scale.
