Can you imagine a collab between Robert Smith of the Cure and Oasis’ Noel Gallagher? They’ve got different styles, but together they could make some really unique and dynamic music. Robert’s all about those emotional, dark vibes, while Noel’s a softer style. We will see how their combination will work on Gallagher’s upcoming album, with his High Flying Birds. For now, we only have the details about how this collab started based on what Gallagher revealed in a recent interview with BBC’s Huw Stephens.

“Well, ‘Pretty Boy,’ as it was unfolding, became reminiscent of the golden age of the Cure,” the musician said before explaining how the idea of a joint effort with Smith popped into his head. “And it was just one of those crazy ideas that one tends to have in the middle of the night thinking, ‘I wonder, would Robert Smith get involved? And I wonder if I could get a hold of him.’”

Gallagher continued, “And somebody emailed somebody who emailed somebody who emailed back and said, ‘This is his email,’ and kind of asked him if would be he get involved and sent him the track, and he loved it, and he did the remix, and I loved it. And, yeah, we’ve become a kind of… I never met him before, I’d never conversed with him, but I was always a fan of the Cure, and the remix sounds exactly like the Cure, and it turns out he’s a bit of a dude.”

We don’t know how the song will sound right now, but we can guess. Robert’s got that ethereal, atmospheric sound, and the former Oasis guitarist is more of a straight-up rocker. Imagine one of Noel’s big anthem-like songs, but layered with Robert’s trippy and dark tones. We could see Robert adding some of that Cure-style darkness to the song and maybe even slowing it down a bit.

It will definitely offer a unique take on one of Noel’s songs and bring out some new elements in his music. The remix version of the song, ‘Pretty Boy,’ by Robert Smith will be something fresh and different for sure. Gallagher’s fourth studio album with his High Flying Birds, ‘Council Skies,’ is coming next summer on June 2, so we’ll all wait and see!
