Nita Strauss Says She Was In Tears After Playing Jason Becker’s Guitar

Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss shared her reaction after playing Jason Becker’s guitar by sharing a new post on her official Instagram account.

Jason Becker is considered one of the most talented guitar players of all time. However, Jason had to pause his career after he got diagnosed with ALS, and his condition started worsening day by day. At first, Becker lost his ability to speak, and then he was unable to use his hands.

However, he continued composing music with the help of a computer, as he couldn’t stay away from his biggest passion for long. Two days ago, Alice Cooper played at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, and Nita used Jason Becker’s special guitar ‘Numbers’ instead of using her own signature Ibanez.

After playing with Jason’s guitar in the show, Nita expressed her feelings yesterday and said it was an honor and privilege to play with the original ‘Numbers’ on stage. Furthermore, Strauss praised the beauty of the guitar by saying that it has Jason’s magic in it. Besides that, the guitarist also mentioned that she was in tears when she was walking off the stage.

Nita Strauss shared her feelings about playing Jason Becker’s guitar:

“It’s taken me 12 hours to find the words. What an incredible honor and a privilege it was to get to play Jason Becker’s original ‘Numbers’ guitar on stage for a song last night.

This guitar truly has Jason’s magic in it… I felt like I couldn’t miss a note if I tried! I was in tears walking off the stage thinking what that moment meant. I don’t know when that guitar was last used on stage! But I am so grateful to have had this opportunity!

Jason told Josh and I years ago that he wanted his guitars to continue being played. At the time I was struck by how unselfish that thought was –  there was no sense of bitterness, just that same joy and love of guitar that we all associate with Jason and his playing.

Now that I’ve played it a couple of times- I get it. I do. I hope I did it justice last night. Thank you to Benny for making this happen.”
