Nikki Sixx Says The New ‘Retaliators’ Soundtrack Will Stretch Mötley Crüe Audience To New Fans

The theme song of the horror thriller film ‘The Retaliators’ featuring Mötley Crüe has just arrived. In a press release, the band’s bassist Nikki Sixx said that the soundtrack would expand their fanbase, owing to their new direction.

Besides the albums they make, the bands also show their creative forces in other interaction channels, including literature, cinema, and television. In 2001, Mötley Crüe published their collaborative autobiography, ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band,’ including the details of the band’s formation, early days, career peak, and highs and lows.

Later, the biopic, ‘The Dirt‘ based on the book, also arrived on Netflix in 2019. The band recorded several new songs for the soundtrack of the film. Mötley Crüe was involved in another movie, ‘The Retaliators,’ by performing the theme song, ‘The Retaliators Theme (21 Bullets)’ written by Nikki Sixx and Sixx:A.M.’s James Michael. In addition to Mötley Crüe, the song also features Asking Alexandria, Ice Nine Kills, and From Ashes to New.

While the film will arrive in theaters on September 14, 2022, the theme song has been just released on YouTube. Talking in a press release, Nikki Sixx said that working on a theme song for a horror movie was an exciting experience. The bassist explained that it was his first time writing for this kind of film, so it became a different journey than writing for ‘The Dirt.’ Sixx is thrilled to work with talented musicians he didn’t collaborate with before. The bassist thinks it will expand their audience, while he also expects their long-time fans to like the song.

Here is what Nikki Sixx said about writing the soundtrack:

“Writing a new theme song for a horror flick was inspiring. This was my first time writing for a horror-thriller film, and it took me in a different direction from the first theme song I wrote — ‘The Dirt (1981)’ by Mötley Crüe. I worked with some great new artists to create a new sound that would stretch Mötley Crüe’s audience to new fans. I had a great time writing it, and I think our fans will love it too!”
