Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx shared his thoughts about people’s reactions to his spiritual side on X (formerly Twitter).

“I feel like when I mention spirituality, people are either really surprised or run for the door,” Sixx said. ‘Knowing my past, I’m still really surprised myself.”

His statement highlights a stark contrast with his well-documented history in one of rock’s most notorious bands. His journey from rock excess to spiritual awareness continues to surprise both fans and himself.

This recent reflection emerges as part of Sixx’s ongoing personal transformation.

Blabbermouth reported that Sixx reached 23 years of sobriety. A treatment program provided him with essential tools to maintain a drug and alcohol-free life.

“23 years sober today. Had a few runs at it before, but I wasn’t ready to surrender completely to my addiction. Today, I am the happiest I’ve been in my whole life,” Sixx shared about his sobriety milestone.

Loudwire revealed that spirituality became a cornerstone of Sixx’s life. The bassist emphasized its crucial role in maintaining his sobriety and overall well-being.

His transformation stands out against his turbulent past. Louder Sound documented Sixx’s near-death experience in 1987. He was clinically dead for two minutes due to a heroin overdose. This event fundamentally changed his perspective on life and death.

Sixx took another significant step in his spiritual journey in 2020. He relocated to Wyoming with his family, seeking a more grounded lifestyle away from Los Angeles.
