Nikki Sixx has opened up about the challenges of readjusting to normal life after an extended tour with Mötley Crüe. The bassist shared his thoughts on X.
Sixx discussed how the touring lifestyle has affected his daily routine, particularly his ability to sleep at regular hours since returning home.
“Still having a hard time getting to bed at a normal hour since coming off the road,” Sixx said. “After months of touring, late nights, adrenaline, and living out of suitcases, I guess my internal clock hasn’t gotten the memo that we’re home.”
He went on to reflect on the contrast between life on tour and life at home. “It’s funny how long it takes to get into the rhythm of touring and then how hard it is to get back to everyday life. Not complaining. Loving being home, just trying to find that balance again.”
The comments came as Sixx adjusts to daily life following the intensive months spent touring with the band.
Sixx’s readjustment struggles follow the conclusion of The Return of the Carnival of Sins tour, which ran from July through September 2026. The tour kicked off on July 17 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, and wrapped in Ridgefield, Washington, featuring support from Extreme and Tesla across 33 shows. The tour marked both the band’s 40th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of the original Carnival of Sins tour, returning Mötley Crüe to the road after a 2025 Las Vegas residency.
Unlike the grueling touring schedules of the past, the 2026 tour was structured differently to protect the band members’ health and personal lives. The tour ran on a two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off schedule, which allowed Sixx to maintain his role as a dad, husband, and sobriety advocate without burning out. Sixx has previously noted that touring takes a toll on the body and that the energy required to maintain performance can wear a band down over time.
With the tour now complete and their contract fulfilled, Sixx indicated that Mötley Crüe would be taking what he called “real time off” to decide their next steps. The break will give the band members, including lead singer Vince Neil, guitarist John 5, and drummer Tommy Lee, space to consider whether and how they will continue in the future.
