Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx shared an old video of him under the influence of drugs on his official Instagram account. The rocker said he wanted to show the wrong side of addiction’s effects and stated that it was fun until it started to take a toll on his life.

Substance abuse in all forms comes naturally most of the time when involved in the rock and roll music industry. Aside from the music, rockstars’ lifestyles are often described as ‘chaotic.’ Their unhealthy way of living brings catastrophic outcomes such as devouring their physical health. The live performances that lead to afterparties, drugs, and alcohol have cost many talented rock musicians their lives.

Perhaps Nikki Sixx is one of the lucky ones to have survived his addiction issues. However, there was a time when it had gotten so bad that he had died for two minutes in 1987 from an overdose. Fortunately, the paramedics brought him back to life with two adrenaline syringes. Mötley Crüe star later decided to get clean and began his challenging but healthy journey.

The star wrote autobiographies about his experiences and talked in interviews about his addiction times. He encourages those hooked up on substances to speak up and get help. Moreover, Sixx shows them that it’s nothing to be ashamed of what they are dealing with. Recently, he posted a video of him under the influence back in the days he was addicted. He stated that he was grateful that he beat his ‘demons’ and took on the responsibility to share what’s ugly for those struggling.

Sixx stated in the caption the following:

I had a lot of fun until it wasn’t fun anymore. I feel so grateful I was able to beat my demons and get sober. Sobriety rocks. I feel like it’s my responsibility to share the good, the bad, and the ugly for those still struggling.”

The band’s biopic ‘The Dirt’ also widely shows Sixx’s struggles with substances. His bandmates Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil had also joined him when he was determined to go sober. Under the influence, the band had done some infamous actions and damaged their environment. Luckily, they got sober and are ready to go on tour in Summer 2022.
