Nickelback launched a creative promotional campaign on social media featuring a fake hacker group, urging followers to call a mysterious phone number, posted on Nickelback’s Official Instagram account. Fans who dialed discovered the “hack” was actually a marketing stunt for new music.
The band created a fictional group called “NICKILEAKS” and claimed their accounts had been intercepted. The video message directed people to call the number for more information.
“Hello,” Nickelback said in the video they shared. “We have intercepted all of Nickelback’s accounts and have access to unreleased files and content. Call us for more info. And if you’re Nickelback, contact us privately.”
Those who called the hotline found a snippet of a brand new, unreleased Nickelback song waiting for them.
One fan responded positively to the campaign. “I just did, let me guess, another new song from their new album, looking forward to it gentlemen,” the fan wrote.
Another fan confirmed what they heard. “Just a snippet of a new song when you call,” they commented.
The stunt was part of Nickelback’s effort to build anticipation for upcoming material through an unconventional approach to promotion.
The campaign comes just three days before the October 30, 2026 release of Nickelback’s eleventh studio album, Everything Under the Sun. The album is being released through Virgin Music Group, marking the band’s debut with the label after their previous two records came out on BMG. Everything Under the Sun was officially announced on July 14, 2026, the same day the second single, “Rattle the Cage” featuring Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5, was released. Prior singles from the album include “Bones for the Crows” (March 20, 2026), “Leave Me Behind” (August 21, 2026), and “Make Me Love You” (September 24, 2026).
The album follows the momentum of Get Rollin’ in 2022, which supported Nickelback’s best-selling tour to date. Everything Under the Sun also comes after the band’s 2023 induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the release of the documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback, which examined their transformation from one of the world’s most commercially successful rock bands in the 2000s to a culturally divisive act in the 2010s.
To support Everything Under the Sun, Nickelback announced the Everything Under The Sun Tour starting February 6, 2027 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The global arena tour will span North America, the UK, Europe, and Australia, with Don Broco joining as direct support and special guests.
