Speculation about a new Deftones album release has emerged following comments made during The Dr. Greenthumb Show. Rapper Everlast suggested the band has new material coming this summer.

Everlast made claims about having heard unreleased Deftones tracks and their potential release timeline during the show. Guitarist Stephen Carpenter was present but did not directly confirm or deny the album speculation.

“Since we’re going to be on this kind of, you know, throwing flowers around attitude, this man [points to Carpenter] has a record coming out much sooner, in August, that I just heard a few songs from,” Everlast said. “[It] sounds like Deftones all got in time machines and got back out and hit the studio last week and are feeling young and beautiful.”

Everlast continued his praise for the alleged new material.

“That record is amazing, man, all three [songs] that I heard… It’s gonna be a good musical summer for people who like what we do,” he said. “Or summer for them; for you and me, probably end of the year.”

Carpenter’s response focused on the band’s upcoming tour plans when the topic came up. He did not address the album claims directly.

“We’re actually going back out — well, they’re out right now in Europe —I join back up with the band in August, and were doing Canada/U.S. mix,” Carpenter responded.

The band has not officially announced any new album or confirmed Everlast’s claims about an August release.

Carpenter remained noncommittal about the album timeline. Recent statements from other band members suggest new material is indeed on the horizon.

Consequence of Sound reported that frontman Chino Moreno revealed in a February 2025 interview that the new album was “getting very close to being ready.” He mentioned plans to release it “sometime around” their current touring period. This timeline aligns with Everlast’s August prediction and suggests a summer or fall launch is likely.

The band’s extensive 2025 schedule includes North American headlining shows and co-headlining stadium dates with System of a Down. Metal Injection noted these tour dates could potentially serve as promotional opportunities for the new album release.

“We have a lot of touring coming up, so we want to make sure we have new material to share with our fans,” Moreno stated in the February interview. This adds weight to the speculation surrounding an imminent release.

This forthcoming album would continue the momentum from their 2020 release *Ohms*. It reflects the band’s ongoing creative drive. Metal Injection revealed the band has been working on new material throughout their recent touring cycle. They have plans to expand their reach internationally through events like the Día de los Deftones festival.
