In a recent chat with Ultimate Classic Rock’s Matt Wardlaw, Nancy Wilson revealed that Heart is making an acoustic album.
“We’re actually in talks about an acoustic album, while we’re waiting to go back out on the tour, which I think it’d be just a perfect use of our time,” the musician said. “Because me and the band guys could put these acoustic Heart songs together in ways that are kind of an unexpected way of doing [and] hearing Heart songs, fresh again.”
The idea for an acoustic album came from the shows Heart played in 2024 before Ann Wilson’s health issues. They added an acoustic part to their performances, which fans really liked.
The band has been quiet after delaying their 2024 tour because Wilson had health problems. In July, the band said Ann was getting cancer treatment. They also canceled European tour dates in May. The singer said in a statement, “Dear friends, I underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous.”
She continued, “The operation was successful and I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it. And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”
“To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs,” Ann added. “Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted and we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing. Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.”
In the same UCR interview, Nancy announced their return, explaining, “We did almost 20 shows on the Heart tour this [past] year. We’re coming back out in February — we’re rescheduling [the shows and] they’re about to be announced.”
If the acoustic album happens, it will be Heart’s first new studio album since 2016’s ‘Beautiful Broken.’ Nancy said it will include a few new songs and some reworked Heart classics.
