The former multi-instrumentalist of Mr. Bungle, Theo Lengyel, is currently in police custody due to his suspected involvement in the murder of his girlfriend, Alice Kamakaokalani Herrmann. Lengyel’s arrest follows weeks of investigation into Herrmann’s disappearance.

Lengyel had initially been identified as a ‘person of interest’ for law enforcement due to his refusal to cooperate in the disappearance of his girlfriend, which began on December 12. As it became apparent that foul play was a factor, the California Police Department elevated the former Mr. Bungle member to a suspect and took him into custody.

In addition to the murder charges, he also faces felony charges of burglary and auto theft.

Kamakaokalani’s Body Pieces Were Found

Lengyel’s arrest is connected to the revelation that he had traveled from El Cerrito, California, to Portland, Oregon, during the days surrounding Herrmann’s disappearance. Subsequently, investigators discovered human remains in a wooded area in Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, California. Though DNA results are still pending by the Contra Costa Coroner’s Office, the remains are believed to be those of Lengyel’s missing girlfriend.

Law enforcement did not disclose details regarding the circumstances or location of Herrmann’s death.
