Not to diminish the talents and achievements of the big names in the industry that are touring stadiums, but it’s much easier to come out on top with a massive label behind you. If you are not one that the industry has poured money into, as Morrissey shared in an interview at the London Palladium, and you are an artist that is one of the people, then it is more valuable when fans still buy tickets and show up to your concerts.

“They’re incredible,” said Morrissey about his fans who keep showing up for him no matter where in the world he is. The singer added, “It’s because I’m a real person, and they know I’m true, and it’s actually quite rare to have that kind of an audience. You can be a stadium band and play on enormous stages to millions of people every night, but nobody wants to go near your stage; you are a brand and a business, but I’m not like that.”

Morrissey continued, “I wasn’t made by the music industry. I was made by the people, and there’s a huge difference. When you look at artists, you can tell all those who were put there by the music industry; you will be very big now you’ll be very famous.”

The rocker further explained, “There are people who are of the people; there are singers who are of the people of which I am one. Often that works against you because the industry doesn’t particularly like people like me, and the music press doesn’t particularly like people like me because they know I’m older.

“They know money has been injected into this person; I can assure you nothing has been injected into me,” Morrissey said. He also noted, “So they don’t know what to do with people like me; they think this is odd. They understand manufactured artists; they can get rid of them when the industry is bored with them, they get rid of them, but you can’t with people like me unless I’m shocked.”

The singer is currently on the road to support his latest album ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers.’ The ‘Live In Concert’ tour has kicked off in Ontario, California, on November 11 and has several other shows scheduled across America. The tour will wrap up the first week of December.
