Music journalist Mitch Lafon thinks the rock music industry is down to its last six years with the retirements of many older rock bands both from music and touring.
Lafon shared a post on his X account where he named several rockers that just recently retired or will retire soon, and suggested that we have five or six years with rock music.
“Kiss retires from touring tonight… The countdown to the end of an era speeds up. By 2030, who will be left? Aerosmith will be gone… KISS, Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, Scorpions, etc… ‘Our music’ live is down to its last 5 or 6 years… enjoy it while you can!”
A user pointed out the younger bands, namely Night Demon, Dirty Honey, Haunt, Riot City, and many more, and implied that they keep the rock scene alive and well, while Lafon replied with the following:
“Yes, but not bands from ‘my era.'”
Iron Maiden ‘Has 4 Years’

The journalist also made some guesses about the bands that have been around for a long time. One of his guesses included Iron Maiden. When a user asked about the band and how much time he predicts they have until retirement, Lafon replied:
“Another 4 years… (my guess)”
Though the band is still actively touring and has plans for a world tour in 2024, the future is not clear.
Kiss Retired from Touring

Kiss played at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, bringing down the curtain on the band’s ‘End of the Road’ farewell tour, which initially began in January 2019.
Though the band says they are now retiring from touring, in the past, they did retire and reunite several times. So it’s not certain whether or not Kiss has a new plan rather than completely retiring.
