Mikkey Dee Explains If He’ll Ever Reunite Motörhead Without Lemmy Kilmister

Mikkey Dee recently spoke to Finland’s Chaoszine, where he discussed the possibility of reuniting Motörhead without the late Lemmy Kilmister after performing Motörhead songs as part of the ‘Mikkey Dee With Friends’ project.

The drummer said the following about playing Motörhead songs with Phil Campbell, with another person filling in for Lemmy’s role:

“I said, ‘We will never, ever get back together and replace Lemmy. That’s impossible.’ I said, ‘But doing little constellations, doing some tribute stuff, that’s great.’ That’s very, very different. And I think they said something, ‘Mikkey will never play Motörhead again.’ That was the main headline on Blabbermouth. I said that’s not what I said at all.”

He then reflected on his future plans about playing Motörhead material:

“Of course, I will play Motörhead. But I will never be a part of trying to put Motörhead as a band out there again with some other f*cking idiot supposed to take Lemmy’s place. So that’s all I said. But to do this [‘Mikkey Dee With Friends’ thing], [it’s] fantastic. And, of course, we’d like to plan something bigger than this in the future, hopefully.”

Dee’s recent statements came after what he said about the same issue in February during an interview with Canada’s The Metal Voice. He thinks what he wanted to convey was misinterpreted in the press. When asked about reuniting Motörhead again, Mikkey replied:

“No. I really don’t think [the fans] want us to do that. That, to me, is stepping over the line. We will never, ever, ever tour with Motörhead as a name ever and bring someone else in [to play Lemmy’s parts]. That will never happen. But what we are doing is doing some shows here and there…”

The drummer performed two shows in Finland under the moniker of ‘Mikkey Dee With Friends’ last week. During the gig, he had Viktor Skatt and Stig William Rickard from the Drippiers joining him, with Viktor on bass and vocals and Stig William on guitar.
