Mike Shinoda recently discussed Linkin Park’s latest album “From Zero” and its connection to the band’s origins. He shared insights during an interview with Lollapalooza India.

The conversation centered around the meaning behind the album title and its significance to the band’s history. When asked about whether the album name “From Zero” had any connection to the band’s original name, Shinoda provided detailed context about the title’s multiple meanings.

“Yeah, From Zero is like a double, even triple, I don’t know, maybe entendre. It’s like starting from scratch, but it’s also our band’s first name was Zero,” Shinoda said. “So some elements of it, I think they just showed up naturally that we kind of went back to a version of the band before Chester [Bennington] had even joined.”

The Linkin Park co-founder elaborated on how the album connects to the band’s earliest days. He referenced their pre-Chester Bennington era.

“So Zero was with my friend, my friend Mark, and we were like, sometimes when we were writing, we were feeling like these are things that were rooted in the band even way back then,” he continued.

The album “From Zero” features new singer Emily Armstrong. It represents both a fresh start for the band and a return to their foundational roots.

This latest release marks a significant milestone for the band. It represents their return to the music scene after a lengthy hiatus following Chester Bennington’s passing in 2017.

The Music reported that “From Zero” is Linkin Park’s first studio album in seven years since “One More Light” in 2017. The album was released on November 15, 2024. It serves as a reference to the band’s original name, Xero, which the group has mined for inspiration in their comeback effort.

The album features notable tracks including “The Emptiness Machine.” This was among the first singles released to showcase the band’s new direction with Emily Armstrong. Sunday Independent noted that the release was dubbed one of the most anticipated rock releases of 2024. This highlighted the significant anticipation surrounding the band’s return.

The success of “From Zero” has launched the band into their extensive From Zero World Tour. The tour continues to expand globally. Noise11 confirmed that Linkin Park is returning to Australia and New Zealand for the From Zero World Tour 2026 with special guests Polaris and Vana. This marks their first shows in Australia since 2013.

The tour’s expansion to Australia represents a significant moment for both the band and their international fanbase. It demonstrates the global reach and continued relevance of Linkin Park’s music even as they navigate this new chapter with Emily Armstrong as their vocalist.
