Slipknot co-guitarist Mick Thomson’s wife Stacy Thomson has responded to reports of DJ Sid Wilson’s firing from the band. She shared a cryptic message on Instagram that appeared to cast doubt on the circulating story.
Stacy’s comments came in response to a TMZ report claiming that Sid Wilson had been permanently removed from Slipknot. TMZ stated: “Sid Wilson is officially out as Slipknot’s DJ and keyboardist. A source close to the band and with direct knowledge tells TMZ Sid was notified late Friday afternoon that he’s been permanently kicked out of the band. It’s currently unclear what led to him getting the boot.”
Rather than addressing the report directly, Stacy took a humorous approach by slipping in a reference to the 1986 Matthew Broderick film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
“My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night,” Stacy wrote in an Instagram story. “I guess it’s pretty serious.”
She then followed up with a more direct message to her followers.
“Questions about my reference? Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids!” she continued. “And yes Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a great movie.”
The post appeared to be a subtle pushback against the TMZ report, though Stacy stopped short of explicitly confirming or denying the claims. No official statement from Slipknot or Sid Wilson has been issued at this time.
Stacy Thomson was not the only member of the Slipknot camp to weigh in on the swirling reports. The story quickly drew reactions from within the band’s inner circle and beyond.
Slipknot guitarist Jim Root also addressed the situation on Instagram with a measured but pointed response. “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information,” Root wrote in an Instagram Story, stopping well short of confirming the reported dismissal.
Wilson himself has not issued any public statement or social media post addressing the reports. He was spotted making a low-key appearance at a recording studio in Los Angeles in the days following the story’s emergence. It marked his first public sighting since the news broke on July 31, 2026.
The firing report arrived at a turbulent moment in Wilson’s personal life. The 49-year-old musician had recently split from his fiancée Kelly Osbourne. The pair’s breakup had been reported just months before the band departure story surfaced.
