Following the release of his new single, ‘Right Side of Wrong,’ Mick Mars sat down with Guitar World for an interview and said that his musical choices might affect his fanbase.

In his new album, the guitarist has been reinventing himself. He noted the following about it:

“When it comes to my playing, there’s the Mötley side and the Mars side. Either way, I always have a very clear vision of what I want to do. People are going to hear my tone – my sound. I am what I am. My feeling has always been, I might gain some fans, I might lose some fans. But what they’re hearing, it’s all me.”

Mars’ Vision For His New Record

The album, named ‘The Other Side of Mars,’ is set to be released on February 23, following the release of its debut single ‘Loyal to the Lie’ last month. After the first track, Mars joined Metal Hammer for a chat about the record and said:

“I wanted to do something that was just big and mean. People are going to hear my tone — my sound. I am what I am. Nobody else can do it. And like everyone, I’ve got a limited number of years. So, I’m gonna do all I can to do a lot of stuff.”

The track came after he was quiet for a while due to a legal issue with his ex-Mötley Crüe members. However, in a November interview with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM, he said the song isn’t about this dispute. The musician explained:

“Mötley will always be a part of me, my legacy, stuff that I’ve done, and I loved what we’ve done, but there’s a time to call it. This crap that I have got a little rough on me traveling. So, it is what it is. But no. That song is full-blown just against the lie, whether it be cultist or, I’m not gonna say government, but I say, governor: government and that kind of stuff.”

He also disclosed in the recent Guitar World interview that he was excited to work on new projects. He explained that he had wanted to start his solo career for a long time, but first, he had to focus on his commitments with Mötley Crüe. Now that he’s free to pursue his own music, he’s very eager and already planning his next album.
