Mick Jagger Says Yungblud And Machine Gun Kelly Brought Life To Rock
The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger recently spoke to Swedish radio station P4 and stated that Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly brought a breath of fresh air to the rock scene.
It is a widely accepted fact that the popularity of rock music has been mainly on the decline in recent years while other genres such as pop, hip hop, rap, and electronic music catch on with young people nowadays. Maybe radio and streaming are dominated chiefly by these genres, but rock has remained a force up until now.
However, many contemporary artists still integrate rock into their sound, which may contribute to conveying it to the mainstream audience again in the later years. It will undoubtedly take time to overthrow other more dominant genres, but rock still has the opportunity to make a comeback.
During his recent appearance, Mick Jagger also opened up about the current situation in the rock world. The singer revealed that he enjoys listening to Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly and thinks they bring life to the rock genre. For Jagger, rock music always needs the energy to stand out.
Nevertheless, many new rock singers have not been around to kickstart the genre’s popularity. Regardless of lacking new faces in rock music, Jagger regarded Yungblud and Kelly as few of them. Moreover, he stated that their post-punk style adds some exciting elements to rock and roll, which may help revive it again.
Mick Jagger’s words on Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly:
“In rock music, you need energy, and there have not been a lot of new rock singers around. Now there are a few. You have Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly. That kind of post-punk vibe makes me think there is still a bit of life in rock and roll.”
As you may know, Mick Jagger will be hitting the road with the Rolling Stones for their 60th-anniversary tour this summer. The band will perform in the UK and Europe. Their will hit the road on June 1 in Madrid, Spain, and end on July 31 in Stockholm, Swede.
