After teasing ‘If Darkness Had A Son’ on TikTok by sharing an instrumental duet of the highly-anticipated track, Metallica recently released a new music video for the song on their YouTube channel. The band also announced the news on their Instagram page with a short clip.

Last November, Metallica released a new song titled ‘Lux Æterna’ and announced that their brand-new album, ’72 Seasons,’ will be released on April 14, 2023. At the beginning of 2023, the band excited their fanbase with another release titled ‘Screaming Suicide.’

Recently, Metallica took to their Instagram to announce the release of ‘If Darkness Had A Son.’ The band also shared a short clip from the music video with fans and wrote a line from the song in the caption. The brand-new music video already has over 400,000 views on YouTube.

Metallica’s Instagram post read:

“New song, new video — ‘If Darkness Had A Son.’

‘Return again to where it’s darkest…’ Watch the video!”

The music video for ‘If Darkness Had A Son’ was directed by Tim Saccenti, who also directed ‘Lux Æterna’s music video. Another interesting fact about the song is that it features the first writing credit for Kirk Hammett since 2011’s ‘Lulu.’

A day before the official release of ’72 Seasons,’ fans will have a chance to listen to the album in its entirety, along with music videos for each track, during the listening party held by Metallica and Trafalgar Releasing. The listening party will be a one-night-only event exclusively for cinema audiences worldwide.
