Metallica just donated $100,000 to help those hit by Hurricane Helene and called for more support from the public in a recent update shared on X.

“Our AWMH Foundation is donating $50,000 each to World Central Kitchen and Team Rubicon to aid in first-response efforts,” the band wrote, sharing images of the disaster’s impact.

“Over the past week, Hurricane Helene has left a 500-mile path of destruction throughout Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee in its wake,” the tweet went on. “It is an unmitigated tragedy, with over 215 lives lost and hundreds of people still unaccounted for. Historic water levels and widespread flooding across the Appalachians have left hundreds of roads inaccessible, hindering rescue efforts.”

Hurricane Helene, which made landfall on Thursday, September 26, is now recorded as this century’s third deadliest storm in the U.S.

More than 140 Team Rubicon volunteers are currently helping over 35 communities affected by the disaster. Meanwhile, World Central Kitchen is trying to provide food and water to isolated communities using helicopters and airboats.

Through their All Within My Hands Foundation, Metallica is donating part of every ticket sale from their M72 World Tour back into the cities they visit.

The band formed this foundation in 2017 to invest in the communities that have supported them and build sustainable communities and fight hunger, along with other essential services.
