The freestyle features a sample from the Limp Bizkit track. The rapper announced the new song on social media, and fans from both camps responded with sharply different views about the collaboration.

Some Limp Bizkit fans expressed displeasure with the sample. One wrote, “This is the worst news I’ve heard all week.” Another stated, “This trash shouldn’t touch anything of Fred Dursts.”

Other listeners saw the track as a creative choice. A Megan Thee Stallion fan commented, “I thought I was the one of the few that liked Limp Bizkit. Glad to see her bringing back those vibes she is very creative.”

A different supporter of the rapper added their own suggestion about her musical direction: “We need another Spiritbox collab she meshes so well with them i’m obsessed.”

The freestyle comes as Megan Thee Stallion continues to explore different musical styles and collaborations. Her willingness to sample material from different genres has sparked debate among her audience.

“Thin Ice” is part of Megan Thee Stallion’s Tina Tuesday Freestyle series, which she began in late September to build anticipation for her upcoming album, MEGAN ACT III. The series features her alter ego Tina Snow, first introduced on Megan’s 2018 EP of the same name, with new material released almost every Tuesday.

The track was produced by Buddah Bless and samples from “Break Stuff” off Limp Bizkit’s 1999 album Significant Other. The Limp Bizkit song has been sampled in more than 20 songs across different genres, showing its lasting influence in music. In 2019, Alternative Press named it one of the “Top 10 nü-metal staples that still hold up today,” and both Louder Sound and Kerrang listed it as Limp Bizkit’s greatest song in 2022.

Megan has a history of blending genres through collaborations with artists outside rap. She has worked with Canadian heavy metal band Spiritbox on multiple tracks, including “TYG,” which features nu-metal-influenced guitar riffs and mixes rap and metal elements. The collaboration with Spiritbox follows her earlier work with the band on “Cobra (Rock Remix),” showing her consistent interest in crossing musical boundaries.
