MC5’s Wayne Kramer Passed Away At 75, Slash And Alice Cooper Bid Him Farewell
Wayne Kramer, the co-founding guitarist and composer of MC5, has passed away at the age of 75.
The news was confirmed on Kramer’s and MC5’s official Instagram. Shared with a black and white picture, the statement read:
“Wayne S. Kramer ‘PEACE BE WITH YOU’ April 30, 1948 – February 2, 2024.”
Though no cause of death has officially been disclosed yet, Kramer’s friend and executive director of his Jail Guitar Doors, Jason Heath, said the cause of death was pancreatic cancer.
Alice Cooper and Slash’s Farewells
Kramer’s passing has affected not only his fans, but many of his musician friends and acquaintances as well. Rockers such as Slash bid his farewell. He wrote:
“My life was forever changed for the better when I met this man. & I’m going to miss him immeasurably. The embodiment of all things Rock n Roll. & a really fucking great human being. RIP Wayne, you will live on in our hearts.”
Alice Cooper too among those rockers who have paid tributes. He shared a picture of the MC5 guitarist and wrote:
“Today we lost longtime friend – and sometimes collaborator – Wayne Kramer of the MC5. RIP.”
