Maynard James Keenan recently shared a message with fans as Tool’s tour concluded for the year. He provided an update on his future plans in a post shared on Instagram.
The Tool frontman expressed gratitude to fans and crew members. He also hinted at upcoming projects with his other band, Puscifer.
“That’s a wrap on the Tool run,” Keenan said. “Thank you, Hawaii. Awesome as always. Been too long.”
He continued with appreciation for his touring crew and a look ahead to his next musical endeavor.
“THANK YOU to our amazing crew,” he said. “You all work harder than I do. We see it. Happy Holidays. Now I gotta go strap in for this new Puscifer release.”
The message marks the end of Tool’s current touring cycle. It signals upcoming activity from Keenan’s alternative rock project Puscifer. Keenan’s reference to the new Puscifer release aligns with the band’s recent announcements about their forthcoming album and tour plans.
Rough Trade reported that Puscifer will return with their new album “Normal Isn’t” set for release on February 6th, 2026. The album represents another chapter in Keenan’s diverse musical portfolio. It showcases the uncompromising rock sound that has defined the enigmatic band fronted by the Tool and A Perfect Circle vocalist.
The creative process behind “Normal Isn’t” reveals Keenan’s meticulous approach to songwriting and production. The PRP noted that Keenan compiled a sprawling 80-song playlist that served as inspiration while writing and recording the album. This extensive musical reference collection demonstrates the depth of research and artistic exploration that goes into Puscifer’s creative process.
The album’s sonic direction draws heavily from ’80s alternative and goth influences. Keenan described the sound as “goth meets punk.” Consequence of Sound revealed that the inspiration playlist features influential acts like The Cure, Bauhaus, and Depeche Mode. These artists reflect the new wave and goth elements that shaped the album’s aesthetic.
To support “Normal Isn’t,” Puscifer has announced a Spring 2026 North American tour beginning in March. This touring cycle will give fans the opportunity to experience the new material live. It continues Keenan’s tradition of delivering compelling performances across his various musical projects.
