Maynard James Keenan On Fighting Zuckerberg: ‘I’d F*ck Him Up!’

Maynard James Keenan sat down with Kerrang! where he discussed fighting Mark Zuckerberg.

During the chat about his work with the wrestler Mike Tyson, the rocker was asked if he would consider fighting the Facebook founder. He replied with:

“No, no… that’s absurd.”

The singer then praised Tyson and his abilities:

“Mike Tyson was a world-class fighter whose body was built for those things and was operating at the top three per cent of the people who did that thing. Everything about him, like his residual bone density, lends itself to that professional level. Even in high school, my wrestling record was barely above 50 per cent wins. I was a way better runner than I was a wrestler. The idea of competing against someone larger and younger than me is kinda dumb.”

Keenan also explained why he wouldn’t fight Zuckerberg, but jokingly added that he would ‘f*ck him up’:

“Mark and I have mutual friends, so if I make any threats against him, I’d soon be dismissed, so I better shut up. Though I will say that I will f*ck that punk up!”

Keenan’s Relevance With Tyson

Tyson’s gearing up to fight YouTuber Jake Paul on July 20th. Though Tyson and Paul have some past drama, the upcoming fight isn’t about settling old scores.

Jake Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, previously mentioned that he’d been asked to fight Tyson but turned it down. He thought he could take on Tyson, saying he is ‘too old.’ But the discussion shifted when it came to the fight’s terms. Jake heard about his brother’s comments and talked about them on his podcast. He clarified that Tyson wasn’t actively looking for an opponent but that Netflix made an offer that convinced both fighters to agree to the match.

In March this year, Keenan revealed on his social media that he was getting involved in Tyson’s comeback to boxing. Keenan revealed the details on social media that Tyson trained at his Verde Valley BJJ gym that he co-owns. He even posted a photo of them together, saying:

“Honored to have Mike Tyson grace our small town academy, Verde Valley BJJ. His Training Camp for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson began under our roof. Gonna be bragging about that for a bit. Long after y’all are tired of hearing about it. Deal with it.”

You can catch the fight live on Netflix on July 20, 2024.
