Mastodon have announced a major upcoming tour, as reported on their official Instagram. The band revealed “The Poisonous Weapons Tour,” a nationwide run of dates featuring support from Deafheaven and Alcest. The tour coincides with the release of their new song “Your Ghost Again” and is set to kick off on September 16 in Orlando.

The announcement also came with a direct message to fans, expressing the band’s excitement about hitting the road and the new music.

“The Poisonous Weapons Tour,” the band said. “Kicking off this September with special guest Deafheaven and Alcest. Tickets on sale Friday at 10am local time.”

The statement also highlighted the release of new material ahead of the upcoming dates.

“New song ‘Your Ghost Again,’ out now!” they continued. “Play it loud! See ya on the road!”

The tour follows the release of “Your Ghost Again” and marks a significant live outing for the band. Tickets are set to go on sale Friday at 10am local time.

The announcement places Mastodon alongside two of heavy music’s most critically acclaimed acts. “The Poisonous Weapons Tour” is shaping up to be one of the more anticipated hard rock outings of the fall season. The pairing of Mastodon’s progressive metal with Deafheaven’s post-black metal and Alcest’s atmospheric shoegaze creates a lineup that spans a wide range of the modern heavy music spectrum.

Roadrunner Records noted that Mastodon have been one of the most consistent forces in progressive metal since their formation in Atlanta, Georgia in 2000. Landmark albums such as Leviathan (2004) and Crack the Skye (2009) cemented their reputation as genre innovators.

Deafheaven, for their part, have built a devoted following through their genre-blurring approach. Pitchfork described the San Francisco band’s 2013 album Sunbather as one of the most influential metal records of the past two decades. The album helped bridge the gap between black metal and indie rock audiences.

Alcest, the French project led by Neige, brings yet another dimension to the bill. Nuclear Blast highlighted Alcest as pioneers of the blackgaze subgenre since the mid-2000s. The project has blended ethereal, dream-like textures with metal instrumentation across a catalog spanning nearly two decades.

Together, the three acts represent a cross-section of heavy music’s most adventurous corners. The tour is shaping up to be a landmark event for fans of the genre. With “Your Ghost Again” already out and tickets going on sale Friday, anticipation is building ahead of the September 16 Orlando kickoff.
