Mark Tremonti recently shared his love for the rock band Boston and revealed a new project he’s excited about.

Speaking with Matt Pinfield on the New & Approved podcast, Tremonti explained that he’s been buying gear designed by Boston’s founder Tom Scholz. The Rockman equipment is helping him play Boston’s debut album. “I’m about to go in and just relearn the whole Boston first debut record because I’m going to have pretty much his tone replicated,” he said. “I absolutely love that record, so that’ll be a fun project.”

Tremonti also mentioned how much he admired Boston’s success, pointing out that their first album sold 17 million copies in the United States within just three years. He compared this to Creed’s most successful album, saying, “I don’t think people realize how big that is. Our biggest Creed record sold 11 million over 25 years. That [album] sold 17 million, I think, in the first three years. So that’s a massive record.”

When asked if his new project might influence future work with Creed, Alter Bridge, or even his solo music, Tremonti admitted he would love to perform a Boston song. “If I could get Myles to cover a Boston song, because he’s got that high voice,” he said, revealing he has to convince Kennedy first. “Brad Delp, man, he hits some incredibly high notes. I think that’d be tough for even Myles. I mean, that’s some good stuff.”

Tremonti believes Kennedy could handle the challenge, but he also admitted that it’d be tough.

Boston’s debut album sold 17 million copies in the U.S. alone and helped the band sell over 75 million records worldwide. Tom Scholz hinted at creating new material, but challenges with maintaining analog equipment slowed down the process.

The band hasn’t toured since 2017, and there’s been no news of a new album or tour.
