Mark Knopfler Announces The Release Date Of The Vinyl For Dire Straits’ ‘Brothers In Arms’
Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler announced the re-release of two albums, Local Hero and Brothers In Arms, via his official Instagram account.
In 1983, Mark Knopfler recorded a studio album for the comedy-drama film named ‘Local Hero,’ and it was also the debut album for the iconic guitarist. Additionally, the 43 minutes-long album is featuring fourteen songs.
On the other hand, Brother In Arms is the fifth studio album by Dire Straits released in 1985, and it is the eighth best selling album in the United Kingdom history. Also, the album spent nine weeks at the number one spot on US Billboard 200 chart.
Yesterday, Mark Knopfler announced that they will be re-releasing these albums, and they will be available on vinyl in March 2021. Also, he stated that they used some techniques to have a solid sound for these albums.
Here is what Mark Knopfler wrote:
“Special announcement: Half-speed masters of both Mark’s ‘Local Hero’ film soundtrack and Dire Straits’ ‘Brothers In Arms’ will be available on vinyl from 19th March, mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios.
The half-speed mastering technique results in cuts that have superior high frequency response (treble) and very solid and stable stereo images – producing a high quality record.”
