Tyler Bates, lead guitarist for Marilyn Manson, recently announced his departure from the band to focus on his film, television, and personal artist projects. He shared his decision in a statement posted on Instagram.

The announcement came as part of Bates’ New Year reflection. He explained his reasoning for stepping away from touring duties.

“Hello, Good People. Every New Year prompts reflection on all that has transpired and what lies ahead. In light of this, I have decided to conclude my time touring with Marilyn Manson to focus on my artist, film, and television projects,” Bates said.

The guitarist expressed appreciation for his bandmates and the touring experience they shared.

“I have enjoyed every minute working and performing with my bandmates, Gil Sharone, Reba Meyers, and Matt (Piggy D) Montgomery. They are stellar humans on and off stage. I will miss performing with them for the incredible audiences we met around the planet in support of ‘One Assassination Under God: Chapter One,'” he continued.

Bates confirmed his continued involvement with the band’s upcoming release despite his departure from touring.

“I’m stepping away, but I will be actively supporting the upcoming release of ‘Chapter Two,’ my fourth album with Manson, which I believe is our finest work together. I wish M, the band, and the crew the best of success and good times moving forward. Thank you, the fans, for your loyalty and support of our new music and performances. I wish you all the very best for a fantastic and peaceful 2026,” he concluded.

Bates’ departure marks the end of a significant creative partnership that has shaped Marilyn Manson’s sound over the past decade.

Blunt Magazine reported that Bates has been a core creative force in the band. He co-produced and co-wrote albums including 2015’s The Pale Emperor, 2017’s Heaven Upside Down, and 2024’s One Assassination Under God: Chapter One. His contributions have been instrumental in defining the band’s recent musical direction and sound evolution.

The guitarist’s decision to focus on other projects reflects his diverse career in the entertainment industry. 105.7 The Point noted that outside of his work with Manson, Bates is widely recognized for his film scores for major Hollywood productions including John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and Guardians of the Galaxy. His expertise in film and television composition has made him one of the most sought-after composers in the industry.

The connection between Bates and Manson began through an unexpected avenue in the entertainment world. Blabbermouth revealed that Bates first connected with Manson through his work on the Showtime series Californication. This led to their long-standing musical collaboration. This partnership has spanned nearly a decade and produced some of the band’s most critically acclaimed work.

Fans will have to wait to see how Marilyn Manson’s live performances evolve with Bates stepping away from touring duties. They can anticipate the upcoming release of Chapter Two, which promises to showcase the final collaborative efforts between the two artists.
