Marilyn Manson is facing a new career low. His latest release struggled to make an impact on the charts, according to a report by Forbes. His new album, One Assassination Under God: Chapter 2, narrowly missed the top 40 on the Billboard 200. This marks the first time one of his traditional studio albums has failed to reach that region.
One Assassination Under God: Chapter 2 misses arriving inside the top 40 on this week’s Billboard 200 by a single space. The project starts on the tally at No. 41. It is Manson’s first traditional studio album to fail to enter the region.
His debut full-length, Portrait of an American Family, did not reach the Billboard 200 at all. Since then, every regular album, as well as an EP and a compilation, have found their way into the top 40.
Two years ago, One Assassination Under God: Chapter 1 brought Manson to a new career low among his studio albums. It peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200. His previous full-length, We Are Chaos, had reached as high as No. 8.
The Billboard 200 debut represents a low point. However, the album’s showing across other charts paints a more nuanced picture of Manson’s remaining commercial pull. One Assassination Under God: Chapter 2 still moved enough physical copies to land at No. 4 on Top Album Sales and No. 4 on Vinyl Albums in its first week.
The album also failed to crack the top 10 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, opening at No. 11. Despite that, it debuted on seven Billboard charts in total, including No. 2 on Top Hard Rock Albums, No. 8 on Top Alternative Albums, and No. 10 on Top Rock Albums.
By comparison, Chapter 1 moved more than 21,000 copies in its first week upon its November 2024 release. That helped it reach No. 32 on the Billboard 200, No. 5 on Top Album Sales, and No. 2 on Hard Rock Albums.
