M. Shadows Explains Why Lionel Richie’s A7X Collab Failed

M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold was recently interviewed by Nik Nocturnal on his podcast. Releasing their new long-awaited album ‘Life Is But A Dream…’, Shadows revealed that a certain part of the track ‘Beautiful Morning’ was intended to be sung by the R&B singer, Lionel Richie. He explained:

“We were talking to Lionel Richie about doing the vocal part there… forever! And at the end of the day he got too busy with America’s Got Talent or whatever, but he was gonna sing that, ‘It’s a beautiful morning / It’s a beautiful day.’ It would have been so good, and everyone would have been like, ‘What?!’”

Richie‘s been in touch with rock musicians before. He revealed his friendship with Rob Zombie earlier this year, along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, performing on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame together.

M. Shadows talked about the band’s new album, making it clear that they wanted to experiment and didn’t want to repeat the sound of the earlier albums. He said:

“I’m so sick of people saying they’re doing something new and then it’s just the same old thing. The music that stands out to me now is very abstract and grabs me by the balls and says, ‘You’ve got to pay attention to me!’ This record does that in so many different spots.”
