Halestorm has canceled their two upcoming shows due to Lzzy Hale’s vocal concerns.
The singer took to Instagram to share the bad news with her fans. “HELLO MY LOVES! I woke up this morning with my lungs on fire and coughing up little green men. So, I went ahead and canceled the next two shows,” she revealed.
“I don’t need to crucify myself on stage or muscle my way through a show…when this tour is essentially a beautiful Favor to all… and a selfish act of Love between Joe and I wrapped as a gift to our Freak Family. We will pick back up in Chattanooga… and continue this once in a lifetime experience. Love you all madly,” the rocker added.
Hale doesn’t have a history of canceling shows, thanks in part to her vocal training. In an interview on Pełna Kulturka, Hale explained how her training has helped her build stamina for live performances. “I think that at this point we’ve been training for years, both inadvertently and on purpose for the live show and for that type of stamina. And I think it’s something that you almost have no choice but to learn, especially a band like us that tours the way that we do and for a singer the way that I sing.”
However, she no longer calls her warm-ups a routine. “I think it’s just because I’ve been doing it for so long. I don’t really have a set warm-up routine anymore. Now it’s more day to day, whereas I have the ability now to wake up in the morning and know how I feel. So I’ll like check certain things, like I’ll be humming throughout the day and kind of… I’ll know which spots maybe I need to work on. Or some days I wake up and I’m, like, ‘Hey, it’s all there. I don’t really need to do anything today.'”
The rest of the shows are still on track. Halestorm will perform their next show on January 17 in Mississippi, and the tour ends on January 25 in Vermont.
