Lou Gramm recently shared his thoughts on performing with the current Foreigner lineup, offering praise for his bandmates in an interview with Q1043 New York.
The former Foreigner frontman spoke positively about returning to the stage with the band and his experience working with the current members.
“Honestly, to step on stage as part of Foreigner again after a lot of years of being away from it, it still has that magic,” Gramm said. “And the current lineup is fantastic. They’re great players and a great bunch of guys.”
Gramm continued to express his satisfaction with the band’s chemistry and professionalism.
“We get along famously, and they’re a lot of fun and they have a great deal of respect for the songs and the way they should be played,” he continued. “And I have no bones about being on stage with them at all. They do the name proud.”
Gramm’s endorsement comes at a significant time for the band as they navigate a major transition in their lineup and celebrate their musical legacy.
The current Foreigner lineup features new frontman Luis Maldonado, who joined the band in 2021 and is making his first major U.S. appearances with the group. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Maldonado replaced multi-instrumentalist Thom Gimbel and represents a new chapter for the legendary rock band.
The band’s current roster includes several longtime members who have helped maintain Foreigner’s signature sound. Wikipedia noted that the lineup features bassist Jeff Pilson, guitarist Bruce Watson, keyboardist Michael Bluestein, and drummer Chris Frazier, creating a blend of veteran experience and fresh energy.
Foreigner is currently on tour celebrating both the release of Foreigner 4 Deluxe and their remarkable 50-year musical journey. Blabbermouth confirmed that Lou Gramm will guest on select songs during the tour, marking an important transition as Maldonado takes the lead vocals on many dates.
This tour represents a pivotal moment for Foreigner as they balance honoring their classic catalog with embracing their evolving identity. The positive dynamic between Gramm and the current members suggests a smooth transition that respects the band’s storied history while moving confidently into the future.
