Liam Gallagher has publicly discouraged fans from voting for Oasis in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction process. He expressed his disapproval of the honor on X (formerly Twitter).

The Oasis frontman’s comments came in response to fans who had submitted votes for the band following the announcement of the 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame finalists. The finalists included Oasis alongside Iron Maiden, Phil Collins, and Shakira.

When an Oasis fan wrote about submitting their vote, Gallagher responded harshly.

“I’m gonna block you for that,” he said. “Voting is for WANKERS.”

When another fan questioned his attitude, Gallagher clarified his position on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognition.

“I’m just not feeling this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thing is that a f*cking crime,” he replied.

The musician’s stance reveals his apparent disinterest in the prestigious music industry honor. This comes despite Oasis being among the finalists for induction.

Gallagher’s rejection comes at a significant moment for the Manchester band. They have reached a major milestone in music industry recognition. The Los Angeles Times reported that an artist or band becomes eligible for induction into the hall 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording.

The 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame finalists represent a diverse range of musical genres and eras. iHeartRadio noted that the complete list of nominees includes Mariah Carey, Wu-Tang Clan, and Lauryn Hill alongside Oasis. This marks the first nomination for both Mariah Carey and Oasis.

The nomination process itself involves careful consideration by music industry professionals. The Los Angeles Times explained that nominations are determined by a committee of music industry insiders who evaluate artists’ contributions to rock and roll history.

The timeline for the 2026 induction process is now set in motion despite Gallagher’s public opposition. The Los Angeles Times confirmed that this year’s inductees will be revealed in April. The official ceremony will take place in the fall.
