In a recent interview with The Metal Voice, Krokus’ Marc Storace recalled the fight he had with Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott during their 1983 U.S. tour together.
“Yeah probably. It could have been something like that but there was something negative in the air anyway,” the rocker started explaining. “It didn’t end up well and we were not on speaking terms after that for so long until I think 2015. We played together again at Sweden rock festival and I insisted to this guy who was insider with the band. I wanted to meet Joe Elliot and apologize for the shit that went on.”
“Even if it wasn’t us who started it but our manager then took it to a new height, an unmentionable thing happened. Joe was like, ‘Hey come on Marc, there’s so much water under the bridge, I forgot about it.’ I said, ‘But I didn’t and I want to get it off my chest,’ and since then it’s been it’s amazing a great feeling. This happened in the background in our private time. I met the guys again last year and went backstage and it was nice,” he added.
Krokus was opening for Def Leppard, and both bands were doing well with their albums. Early shows went fine, but Def Leppard became upset with Storace’s performances.
In another interview, Storace shared regretting the incident that got his band kicked off their 1983 U.S. tour with Def Leppard.
“Suddenly out of the blue, our manager walked into our dressing room one of those afternoons and said, ‘I’ve had a complaint from the Lepps. It’s about you, Marc. […] They don’t want you to do your singalongs from the same positions that Joe Elliott is using on stage. So, they’re gonna mark it off with this white tape and you’re not to go over it.’”
After a ‘hot argument,’ Krokus was removed from the tour. Storace called it ‘a big pity’ and said he still regrets what happened. However, he was glad that both bands made peace at the 2019 Sweden Rock Festival.
