Kanye West Receives Backlash For Wearing Burzum T-Shirt In New Viral Photo

Kanye West is back in the news, but this time, it’s for wearing a T-shirt from the Norwegian black metal band Burzum.

A recent photo shared by JPEGMafia on Instagram showed the rapper in the controversial band’s merchandise, sparking backlash from users on social media. Someone wrote:

“Not Kanye wearing a Burzum shirt… He ain’t coming back from this one.”

Is West A Nazi Supporter?

Burzum’s founder, Kristian’ Varg’ Vikernes, is known for his pro-Nazi views and statements on racial issues, as well as his murder conviction in 1994. So, an Instagram user shared:

“What happened to knocking people out for liking Burzum lmao? I thought you punch Nazis, not jerk ’em off.”

Kanye West, on his part, faced his own share of controversies in 2022 after some antisemitic remarks. Referring to his words about going ‘death con 3’ on Jews, another comment read:

“Awfully weird he picks this band of all bands to support, isn’t it? Out of all the options out there. He’s just supporting another Nazi, lol.”

Burzum’s Views And Crimes

Vikernes received a 21-year prison sentence for the 1993 murder of Mayhem guitarist Oystein Aarseth and arson attacks on three churches, including the historic Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo. He served 16 years of this sentence before being released in 2009.

After his release, the singer continued to spread his controversial views online, advocating for ‘civil war, race war, and a return to extreme nationalism.’ He has made statements suggesting drastic actions against immigration from Asia and Africa.
