The Darkness is releasing a new music video for their single, ‘I Hate Myself,’ but there is a catch — Justin Hawkins is in the video as a woman.

The Darkness singer shared a couple of pictures on his Instagram and a separate video about the upcoming material. He shared details about the video in one of his posts. “The music video for ‘I Hate Myself’ will be live-streamed over on my YouTube channel, Justin Hawkins Rides Again, on Monday the 6th of January at 8:30PM GMT. Watch it with me, comment, ask me questions – I’ll be doing it all live with my guest – my brother Dan Hawkins,” the rocker wrote.

While many fans shared their excitement and love, some fans were shocked and even scared after seeing Hawkins as a woman. “I’m scared,” a user commented. “This is scaring me,” another added.

However, another user was shocked at how good he looked that they thought “You could have played Maleficent instead of Angelina Jolie!”

The band released their single only three weeks ago. It’s the second track to be taken from their forthcoming eighth studio album Dreams On Toast. It’s scheduled to be released on March 28 via Cooking Vinyl.

The Darkness will tour the UK in March as part of their ‘Dreams On Toast’ world tour. They will be joined by Northern Irish indie-rock band Ash. They first supported The Darkness on the famous ‘Permission To Land Tour’ over 20 years ago.
