Journey drama took a turn as Jonathan Cain’s wife, Paula White-Cain, sent a public message to Neal Schon’s wife, Michaele. She shared new photos to celebrate Michaele’s birthday in a post on Instagram. The gesture suggests the two families may now be at peace after an earlier dispute. In that dispute, Cain criticized Schon and his wife.

In her birthday post, White-Cain sent warm wishes to Michaele. She also said she hopes to be back out with the group soon.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAELE.. We love and celebrate you today and always,” White-Cain wrote. “I pray Gods greatness and blessings over you this year. ENJOY!!!!! Can’t wait to be back out with you guys.”

The message follows a 2022 interview in which Cain spoke critically about Schon and his wife. He accused them of harming the Journey brand.

“Neal Schon should look in the mirror when he accuses me of causing harm to the Journey brand,” Cain said. “I have watched him damage our brand for years and am a victim of both his — and his wife’s — bizarre behavior. Neal sued Live Nation twice, losing both times and damaging our ability to ever work with them again; Neal outrageously tried to take away trademarks from Steve Perry.”

Cain then described the couple’s conduct toward business partners and fans.

“Neal and his wife continually insult the professionalism of numerous accountants, road managers, and management firms with endless legal threats and their bullying, toxic, and incoherent emails,” Cain continued. “Neal argues online with fans who don’t see eye to eye with him; and Neal and his wife recklessly spend Journey’s money until there is none left for operating costs. If anyone is destroying the Journey brand, it is Neal — and Neal alone.”

White-Cain’s post arrives at a delicate moment for the band. The wider backdrop shows how far the tension between the two families has reached.

Journey’s farewell world tour is underway. Schon and Cain remain in the middle of lawsuits, politics and bad blood. The Final Frontier Tour began in February and runs in two stretches, from Feb. 28 through July 2 and from Sept. 12 through Nov. 28. The final leg ends in San Francisco, which is expected to be an emotional homecoming for the band.

The legal fight has centered on the band’s finances. Schon has filed a lawsuit against Cain over alleged mishandling of band money and unauthorized use of company credit cards. The two men co-own the Journey trademark and cannot remove each other from the band. That arrangement has kept them tied together through years of disputes that have at times turned ugly.

Questions about Cain’s place in the group have also surfaced. Cain has hinted at moving on once the farewell run ends. Schon has made clear that he has no plans to stop. Cain’s camp has pushed back on any suggestion that he has already left.

“Jonathan Cain remains an active member of Journey, and any reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.”

Cain is fully dedicated to touring with the band over the next couple of years. He has only expressed plans to retire at a later time. Against that background, White-Cain’s friendly birthday message may signal a calmer chapter for the families. The legal and business issues continue.
