Deen Castronovo has shared his first statement following a health emergency during Journey’s concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The drummer posted his remarks on Instagram.
Castronovo addressed the incident and thanked those who supported him after the medical emergency forced him to leave the stage during the show.
“Thank you all for the overwhelming love, concern, well wishes, messages and texts over the past couple of days,” Castronovo said. “While I haven’t been able to respond to everyone personally, please know how much your kindness and support mean to me.”
He then spoke directly to the Tulsa audience. “TULSA, I’m so sorry I couldn’t finish the show with you all. Thank you to Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon and everyone at the BOK Center for lifting me up in prayer that night. Hearing about that touched my heart deeply.”
In his final statement, Castronovo announced he was ready to return to performing. “I’ll be joining Journey on stage in SAN ANTONIO tonight. Much love to you all!”
The drummer issued the statement shortly after his health emergency during the live performance in Oklahoma.
Castronovo, 62, has been Journey’s drummer since rejoining the group in 2021. He had previously spent 18 years as the band’s drummer across five albums before his departure in 2015. His connection to the Journey family runs deep: in 1987, guitarist Neal Schon invited Castronovo to play in the hard-rock supergroup Bad English, which also featured Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain and achieved chart success with their 1989 hit “When I See You Smile.”
The Final Frontier Tour is Journey’s final concert tour. It began on February 28, 2026 in Hershey, Pennsylvania and is set to conclude on November 28, 2026 in San Francisco, California. Castronovo performed on stage in San Antonio, Texas on October 10, 2026 with his bandmates at Frost Bank Center, marking his return following the health emergency in Tulsa.
Neal Schon commented on his Facebook feed that Castronovo “crushed last night,” adding that the drummer was “back in rare form.” The guitarist’s remarks reflected the successful nature of Castronovo’s comeback performance and the band’s continued momentum on their final tour.
