Josh Freese has made a public appeal to Pearl Jam following his departure from Foo Fighters. He shared his persistence in pursuing new musical opportunities through a post on Instagram.

The drummer directed a specific message toward Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament. He expressed his interest in contributing to the band’s visual artwork.

“Come on man, let me do the next Pearl Jam album cover!” Freese wrote in his message to Jeff Ament.

Freese added a caption that emphasized his determination to continue pursuing new projects.

“I’m not giving up,” he stated in the caption.

The post comes as Freese explores new creative ventures following his recent departure from Foo Fighters.

This latest appeal to Pearl Jam represents more than just a casual request. Freese has a significant history with the Seattle-based band that dates back decades.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Freese actually auditioned for Pearl Jam in 1994 after drummer Dave Abbruzzese left the band. During that period, guitarist Stone Gossard contacted him about the possibility of joining the group. This marked an early connection between the drummer and the influential grunge band.

However, Freese ultimately chose a different path during that crucial moment in his career. The Los Angeles Times noted that instead of waiting for a potential Pearl Jam opportunity, he decided to join the band Slider. This allowed him to be more involved in the creative process and have greater artistic control over his musical direction.

Throughout his career, Freese has established himself as one of the most versatile and sought-after drummers in the industry. Modern Drummer recognized him as a top studio drummer. He has played with numerous bands including The Vandals and Paul Westerberg. This showcases his ability to adapt to various musical styles and genres.

His current outreach to Pearl Jam for album artwork demonstrates his continued creative ambitions beyond just drumming. It highlights the multifaceted nature of his artistic pursuits and his determination to explore new collaborative opportunities in the music industry.
