John Lydon expressed strong opinions on the perceived impact of immigration in the UK during a passionate interview, where he reiterated his support for Brexit. In a conversation with LBC host Andrew Marr, he emphasized that much of his upcoming tour is scheduled in seaside towns, which he sees as indicative of the perceived decline in the condition of the UK:

“Britain today is so, so catastrophically disappointing.”

The rocker criticized the state of Britain’s seaside towns, labeling them as ‘run down’ and characterized by a high number of ‘prospective immigrants’:

“They seem to be full of what they term prospective immigrants, which are really like illegals [who are] not being cared for properly, but they shouldn’t have been accepted in such vast numbers.”

The rocker went on to mention the ‘division’:

“It’s created a real, real animosity in communities. The division… when you import so many people with a completely different point of view, they’re not going to adapt to yours. They’re going to stay and bring the problems they’re allegedly escaping from with them.”

Lydon And Hypocrisy Comments

During the same interview, when asked about the distinction between the immigration of his own family from Ireland and the present-day situation, Lydon, who is the son of two immigrant parents, did not provide a clear response based on the information provided.

The rocker faced criticism on social media for what some perceived as hypocrisy in his comments. Additionally, during the interview, the host, Andrew Marr, highlighted that the rocker himself is part of the Irish migrant group in North London. This observation may have been intended to draw attention to what some see as a contradiction between Lydon’s statements and his own background.
