John Corabi has addressed rumors suggesting that The Dead Daisies is merely a billionaire’s hobby project. He defended his bandmate David Lowy in an interview with Louder Sound.
Corabi offered a strong defense of his bandmate when asked about David Lowy coming from a family of businesspeople worth billions and whether that ever comes up in conversation.
“With David, you’d never know it,” Corabi said. “We’ve become very good friends. He’s so humble, and I don’t know anybody who works as hard as he does.”
The guitarist went on to address the criticism more directly. He expressed his frustration with dismissive comments about the band’s legitimacy.
“I’ve taken offence to comments like: ‘Oh, it’s just some fucking billionaire’s hobby,'” he continued. “Every record we’ve done, he’s been in the studio for every minute, pulling his hair out as much as everyone else. David’s blessed to have a creative brain and a business brain, and uses both really well.”
Corabi’s defense of Lowy reflects the band’s professional approach and serious commitment to their music since their formation over a decade ago.
Wikipedia reported that The Dead Daisies were formed in Sydney in 2012 by David Lowy and Jon Stevens. They established themselves as a legitimate rock project rather than a casual venture. The band has maintained an active presence in the rock scene. This demonstrates their dedication to the craft that Corabi emphasizes in his comments.
The group’s credibility is further supported by their impressive roster of musicians over the years. Wikipedia’s member list documented that The Dead Daisies have featured notable musicians including Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed, both from Guns N’ Roses. This highlights the band’s serious musical pedigree and professional standing in the industry.
Lowy’s musical background extends beyond The Dead Daisies. It showcases his genuine passion for music rather than treating it as a mere hobby. As Lightning Strikes noted that he has recorded music with Australian bands like Red Phoenix and Mink. This demonstrates his diverse musical experience and long-standing involvement in the music industry.
The band’s professional approach is evident in their recording history. Their self-titled debut album was recorded in Los Angeles in 2012, as As Lightning Strikes detailed. This commitment to high-quality production and their active touring schedule since formation reinforces Corabi’s assertion that Lowy treats the band as a serious musical endeavor rather than a wealthy person’s pastime.
