John Bush recently reflected on his tenure with Anthrax, particularly discussing his final album of new material with the band, in an interview with Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz.

The former Anthrax vocalist shared his thoughts on the band’s 2003 album ‘We’ve Come For You All’ and his overall experience with the group.

When asked if he looks back fondly on ‘We’ve Come For You All,’ Bush said: “Yeah. I look fondly on all of ’em, really, to be honest. I think all four records are really cool — all a little different from one another.”

Bush elaborated on the different phases of the band’s evolution during his time with them.

“Certainly different times and different growth of the band,” he continued. “But ‘We’ve Come For You All’ was pretty solid. We signed to Nuclear Blast in Europe at that time, so they kind of gave us a resurgence, ’cause they’re a great label in Europe and they just know what they’re doing.”

The vocalist also addressed the album’s reception in different markets.

“And we really kind of re-established ourselves on that record, particularly in Europe,” Bush explained. “In America, I think it was on Sanctuary, and I think they kind of folded not too long after that. So, not as well of a job done here in America, but it was still received well and we toured and some great, great tunes on that record. Some really powerful anthems, if you will.”

Bush’s reflections come at a time when he continues to celebrate his significant contribution to Anthrax’s evolution during a pivotal period in the band’s history.

Wikipedia documented that Bush’s era with Anthrax spanned from 1992 to 2005. During this period, he helped shape a new sound for the band across four studio albums including ‘Sound of White Noise’ and ‘Volume 8: The Threat Is Real’. His tenure marked a departure from the band’s earlier thrash metal roots, incorporating more groove-oriented and alternative metal elements that broadened their appeal.

Following his departure from Anthrax in 2005, Wikipedia noted that Bush remained active with his original band Armored Saint. He also pursued other projects such as Metal Allegiance and Category 7. This diversified approach has allowed him to explore different musical territories while maintaining his connection to the metal community.

To celebrate his time with Anthrax, Loaded Radio reported that Bush recently announced a special run of live performances featuring songs from all four albums he recorded with the band. The shows scheduled for late 2024 will include his Category 7 bandmates and longtime Armored Saint bassist Joey Vera.

Bush expressed humility and excitement about performing the songs live again. He noted that fans have expressed how much those records meant to them. These special performances represent a rare opportunity for fans to hear Bush’s Anthrax material performed by the man himself, bridging the gap between his past contributions and current musical endeavors.
