Joe Elliott Says Def Leppard Don’t Need A Farewell Tour To Sell Some Sleepy Tickets

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliott stated they don’t plan to break up soon. Still, he said that if it happens one day, they won’t announce a farewell tour to sell ‘sleepy tickets.’

Def Leppard has been continuing their musical journey for over four decades without any breakup decisions. The band has also been very productive recently and has been readying to release their twelfth studio album, ‘Diamond Star Halos,’ on May 27, 2022. The fans are excitedly waiting for the new album to arrive as it has been seven years since the release of the band’s latest album.

The forthcoming album’s lead single, ‘Kick,’ also dropped on March 17, 2022. The album will arrive just before their long-awaited ‘Stadium Tour’ with Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, which will give them an excellent chance to promote it. The tour will kick off on June 16, 2022, in Atlanta and end on September 9, in Las Vegas.

Joe Elliott was asked during a recent interview whether Def Leppard would announce a farewell tour if they decided to end the group in the future. Elliott said they wouldn’t realize that it was their final tour until they completed it since they wouldn’t hit the road with the intention of having it one last time.

The singer explained that many artists nowadays announce a farewell tour and sell ‘sleepy tickets,‘ but they don’t need to do that since they want to deliver good performances to their fans. Elliott implied that they will not act on commercial concerns if they ever decide to end their career one day.

Here is how Joe Elliott talked about a possible Def Leppard farewell tour:

“I think it would be, in fairness, something that we find out was a farewell tour after we’ve done it. We’re very fortunate that we don’t have to announce a farewell tour to sell some sleepy tickets, which is what a lot of artists do. They’re selling really well, as it happens.”
