Dee Snider recently broke his silence after canceling Twisted Sister’s reunion tour for 2026 due to health struggles. He shared his first statement on X.

The statement included a video that Snider said would help fans understand what he’s going through. He described a deeply personal and surreal experience involving vivid imagery and telepathic communication.

“I thank you all for your love and concern. If you want to really understand what I’m going through, watch this,” Snider wrote in his post.

In the accompanying video, Snider detailed his unusual experience with striking clarity.

“It’s whatever it is there. It doesn’t talk. You don’t hear voices. It shows you images, and I guess it’s telepathic,” he said. “The first, like, when you’re a kid, did you ever like laying outside on the grass in the sun with your eyes closed, and you could see some sort of colors and patterns and little things going on in your eyelids. That was the first thing that started happening, but then I went in.”

Snider continued to describe how the experience evolved from visual patterns to something more immersive.

“It was like a dream. It was projected in front of me. It was very psychedelic, for lack of a better word, and it was incorporating things that I like,” he explained. “In retrospect, analyzing, I realized it went from being a screen in front of me that I was watching to me being enveloped. At a certain point, it changed and it went dark. I realized I was on an operating table.”

The Twisted Sister frontman then described a more intense phase of the experience.

“I was in a black room. Machinery itself, I wouldn’t call it industrial. I’d call it biomechanical. It was above me and around me. It got closer,” he said. “Now it changed into taking me through different things in my life. It brought me next to my wife telepathically. It confirmed, yes, this is meant to be, and showed me that, wow, there was a lot of tears in this experience.”

Snider concluded by sharing how the experience connected him with his late father, revealing deep personal insights.

“My father rose out of the mist. I have had major issues with my dad all of my music, all of my… He was my muse. My hatred for him, it was so eye-opening, so inspirational. It explained to me…” he said.

This marks Snider’s first public statement since announcing the cancellation of the highly anticipated reunion tour.

The cancellation comes as Snider faces mounting health challenges that have significantly impacted his ability to perform. Fox News reported that the lead singer suffers from degenerative arthritis and heart problems after a “lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing.”

The health issues have forced the band to cancel all planned 50th anniversary concerts. The shows were set to begin April 25 in São Paulo. Los Angeles Times noted that Snider’s resignation over “a series of health challenges” has left the band’s future uncertain.

Snider’s commitment to his craft has remained unwavering despite these physical limitations. He has stated his philosophy clearly regarding his performance standards.

“I don’t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.”

The canceled anniversary shows would have marked a significant milestone for the heavy metal band, celebrating five decades of their influential career in the music industry.
